Dementia Advocates Meeting

The Aged Care Royal Commission reported that people living with dementia experience challenges accessing an appropriate diagnosis and early support tools or resources. To improve this, Dementia Australia is supporting Primary Health Networks across Australia to understand the early support and diagnosis needs of people living with dementia, their family and carers.

Next Thursday 18 August between 10am -1pm, Lance Dale (Consumer Engagement Coordinator – Dementia Australia) will be running a catch up in Kiama with dementia advocates based on the South Coast/Illawarra.

Lance will also be running a primary health network consultation with interested advocates. The consultation is part of a national consultation process we are running with advocates to discuss issues with the PHN especially in terms of diagnosis and supports for those with lived experience. The meeting will be held at the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre, 107 Terralong Street, Kiama.

A lunch and refreshments will be supplied, so please RSVP to Lance and let him know if you have any specific dietary requirements, phone: 02 8875 4622 or mobile: 0409 063 877 or Email Lance.Dale@dementia.org.au, if you have any questions in relation to the meeting and get together.
