Dementia Essentials Workshops are available at various locations or at your workplace. This nationally-accredited course is designed to assist workers supporting people living with dementia. Strategies are explored to assist with good communication, planning and developing appropriate activities and understanding behaviours in people living with dementia.
3 DAY PROGRAM Topics include:
• person centred care
• the nature of dementia
• effective communication
• impact of dementia
• activities for engagement
• understanding changed behaviours and developing effective responses
The completed competency can be credited towards further study in aged care.
You MUST be able to undertake a workplace assessment under supervision, interacting with people living with dementia.
